Iran's parliament approves Strategic Partnership Agreement with Russia

Chairman of the Iranian Parliament Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has sent the approved Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement with Russia to Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian.

"Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has sent a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between the Islamic Republic of Iran and the Russian Federation," RIA Novosti quoted the document as saying.

According to the new agreement, the two countries will expand bilateral relations in areas of mutual interest.

In addition, the States plan to strengthen cooperation on security and defense issues and interact at the regional and global levels.

Earlier, on April 16, the Federation Council ratified the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and Iran. It stipulates that the countries will develop equal and mutually beneficial cooperation in the fields of politics, defense, economy, security, trade, investment, as well as energy, infrastructure, transport and communications.

Prior to that, on April 8, the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership Agreement between Russia and Iran was ratified by deputies of the State Duma (State Duma). It was noted that Russia and Iran are striving for close coordination of activities at the regional and global levels. The treaty was submitted to the State Duma for ratification on March 26 by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
