Slovakia is planning a proposal to postpone the issue of the introduction of new anti-Russian sanctions by the European Union (EU). This was announced on June 15 by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico.

He recalled that the discussion of the new package of sanctions against Russia is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, at a meeting of the foreign ministers of the European Union.

"I have asked the foreign Minister to officially request that the discussion of these sanctions be postponed," Fico said during a press conference broadcast on the YouTube channel of the Slovak SMER party.

The Prime Minister stressed that initially it is necessary to solve the problem with the implementation of the European Commission's plan to stop the import of gas, oil and nuclear fuel to the EU from Russia.

"We are inventing more and more nonsense, believing that this will harm the Russian Federation, which, of course, is not true," Fico added.

Alexander Frolov, Deputy Director General of the National Energy Institute, in an interview with Izvestia on June 11, called the EU's anti-Russian sanctions a marketing policy. He stressed that for this reason, the European Union cannot stop accepting restrictions. against Russia. The expert also recalled that European leaders really want to be involved in the dialogue between Moscow and Kiev.
