Falkov announced the timing of the transition to a new model of higher education

On June 15, the head of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, Valery Falkov, outlined new deadlines for the transition to a new model of higher education. He indicated that the process will begin in 2026-2027.

"We plan that a large-scale transition will begin in 2026-2027. And now we have a complete picture of this model," Falkov said in an interview with RIA Novosti.

He stressed that by this date, the ministry will prepare a number of changes in federal legislation, as well as in the establishment of new regulatory legal acts.

It will become the only such institution in Europe — among the possible options of Moscow State University, MGIMO or St. Petersburg State University.

Earlier, on June 11, the Ministry of Education and Science spoke about cooperation with Serbia. The authorities of Russia and Serbia are planning to hold the first forum of rectors of Russian and Serbian higher education institutions, and are also considering the possibility of creating a Russian-Serbian association of universities.
