The United States named a suspect in the murder of the family of Democratic lawmaker Hortman.

Tim Waltz, a former appointee of the current Democratic governor, is wanted as a suspect in two murders and two attempted assassinations of political figures in Minnesota. This was reported by The New York Post (NYP), citing local police sources, on Saturday, June 14.

Allegedly, 57-year-old Vance Luther Bolter changed into a police uniform and came to the house of state Senator John Hoffman, after which he opened fire on the politician and his wife. According to the newspaper, several bullets were fired at each of the spouses. In addition, the attacker shot dead a golden retriever, a family pet.

Then the criminal went to the house of another politician, a deputy from the Democratic Party, a member of the state House of Representatives, Melissa Hortman. There he opened fire again. This time, two people died: Hortman herself and her husband.

According to the newspaper, the Hoffmans, who survived the shooting, are currently in the hospital. Their condition is stable.

Bolter, a suspect in the attacks and murders, was twice appointed to significant positions by Democratic governors. So, in 2019, he was appointed a Volunteer for a four-year term by the Workforce Development Council. Earlier, in 2016, he was appointed to another political position by ex-Governor Mark Dayton.

The crimes committed in Minnesota were politically motivated, Governor Waltz claimed. The same position was expressed by US President Donald Trump when he was informed about the incident.

"I have been informed about the terrible shooting that took place in Minnesota, which, apparently, is a targeted attack on state legislators," the American leader wrote on his Truth Social page.

Earlier, on June 14, it was reported about the murder of Hortman and her husband. It was also noted that Hoffman and his wife, who survived the attack, were operated on in the hospital. Then the head of the local police, Mark Bruli, noted that the suspect was on the run.
