A military parade was held in London in honor of the birthday of King Charles III of Great Britain. The event was broadcast on the Sky News channel on June 14.

"More than 1.3 thousand soldiers took part in the ceremony at the Horse Guards parade in Whitehall. This event has been held in honor of the official birthday of the British monarch on the second Saturday of June for more than 260 years," the publication says.

It is specified that the 76-year-old king began the ceremony with a minute of silence in honor of the victims of the plane crash that occurred this week in India. Among other victims, 50 British citizens died as a result of the aircraft crash. Senior members of the royal family also appeared at the parade wearing black mourning headbands.

The King and Queen of Britain arrived on the scene from their residence by carriage.

It is specified that the ceremony was attended by Princess Charlotte, Prince Louis, Prince George and other members of the monarch's family. The parade was also attended by the country's Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his wife Victoria.

The event featured the traditional custom of Trooping of Colour (Taking out the banner. — Ed.), during which military personnel solemnly carried the battle flag of the Royal Guard.

"The banner, or regimental flag, carried this year was the royal banner of the 7th Company of the Coldstream Guards, a prestigious regiment known as the Sovereign's Bodyguards. This year he celebrates his 375th anniversary," the article says.

Earlier, on June 10, London Mayor Sadiq Khan received a knighthood from Charles III at Buckingham Palace, despite the negative public reaction. After that, the mayor said that if a person works hard, then he will receive support. On May 30, it was reported that in honor of the coronation of the British monarch Charles III in 2023, the King of Bahrain, Sheikh Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, presented him with a Rolls-Royce car.
