The United States has redirected some of its air defense assets from Ukraine to protect its citizens and military bases in the Middle East. This was announced on June 14 by Pentagon Chief Pete Hegseth, commenting on the escalation of the conflict between Iran and Israel.

"We are using all available resources to protect our people in that region and around the world," Hegseth said in an interview with Fox News.

President of the United States Donald Trump remains focused on resolving the issue of Iran's nuclear program through negotiations and hopes that Tehran will agree to this, the Pentagon chief added.

On June 13, Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran and declared a state of emergency. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the purpose of the military operation is to strike at Iran's nuclear infrastructure. In response, Iran launched several waves of missile attacks.

After the Israeli attack, Trump called on Iran to conclude a deal on the country's nuclear facilities. The American leader stressed that Israel has a lot of weapons from the United States and "they know how to use them."

The Wall Street Journal reported on June 4 that the Pentagon chief ordered the redirection of missile fuses (UAVs) promised to Ukraine to the needs of the US Air Force. It was specified that they would be redirected to the American military in the Middle East.
