At least 31 people were killed in Israeli strikes in East Azerbaijan province

At least 30 soldiers were killed in Israeli attacks in the Iranian province of East Azerbaijan. This was announced on June 14 by the governor of the province Bahram Sarmast.

"As a result of the aggression of the Zionist regime against the province, which began on Friday morning, 30 soldiers and one member of the Red Crescent were killed," the ISNA news agency quoted him as saying.

According to the governor, 55 people were also injured as a result of the strikes in the province.

Earlier in the day, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said it had eliminated more than 20 Iranian military leaders after the airstrikes began. It is noted that the head of the intelligence and missile forces directorate was also killed during the fighting. Prior to that, it was reported that two deputy chiefs of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces (AF) were killed due to Israeli attacks.

On June 13, Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran and declared a state of emergency. In this regard, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the purpose of the military operation is to strike at Iran's nuclear infrastructure.
