China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) will become the leader of a consortium for the construction of another nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan. This was reported on the website of the country's Atomic energy agency on June 14.

According to the head of the agency, Almasadam Satkaliev, all potential vendors included in the shortlist have unique technologies, but the projects presented by China and Russia are "objectively recognized as the strongest."

"It is planned to sign a personal agreement with the People's Republic of China on cooperation in the nuclear industry. We want to use Chinese technologies to build another nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan," he said.

It is specified that appropriate negotiations will be held with the Chinese side.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that Rosatom State Corporation had been selected as the leader of the consortium for the construction of the first nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan. According to Alexey Likhachev, the head of the state corporation, Rosatom plans to build on the most advanced and efficient project in the world using Russian technologies.
