The death toll from the floods in South Africa has reached 86 people. This was announced on Saturday, June 14, by Police Minister Senzo Mchunu.

He also thanked the law enforcement agencies for their help in eliminating the consequences of the disaster, noting that great damage had been done to the infrastructure.

"Please continue to provide assistance where you are asked," said Mchunu, quoted by the online newspaper TimesLIVE.

According to the publication, South African President Cyril Ramaphosa visited the areas affected by the disaster. He announced that the state would provide immediate assistance to the victims.

On June 11, South Africa was hit by a snow storm that caused flooding, including schoolchildren who were on a bus during the disaster, and four students were missing that day.
