Majid Mousavi has been appointed Commander of the Military Space Forces (VKS) of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC, elite units of the republic's Armed Forces). This was reported on June 14 by the ISNA news agency with reference to the decree.
"In view of the glorious and honorable martyrdom of IRGC Major General Amir Ali Hajizadeh <...>, as well as on the basis of the proposal of the IRGC Commander-in—Chief and your valuable qualities and experience, I appoint you Commander of the IRGC Air Force," the decree says.
The former commander of the IRGC Air Force, Hajizadeh, died on June 13 as a result of night strikes on an underground command center in Iran. The commanders of the drones and the air command of the IRGC Air Force also died with him.
Earlier in the day, two deputy chiefs of the General Staff of the Iranian Armed Forces were killed in Israeli strikes. On June 13, Iran confirmed the deaths of IRGC Chief of Staff Hossein Salami, Deputy Commander of the Armed Forces General Gholamali Rashid and atomic scientist Fereydoon Abbasi.
