Russia will assess the situation with the return of foreign brands to the country and may refuse companies, among other things. This was announced on June 14 by Denis Manturov, First Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation, on the eve of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF-2025).

"We proceed from what our industry needs first of all. If the niche that has been freed from the presence of a foreign company is already occupied by Russian manufacturers, we must first assess [the market situation]," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to Manturov, if the return of the brand prevents or does not contribute to the further consolidation of the domestic manufacturer, its interests with the Russian side will diverge.

Dmitry Birichevsky, Director of the Department of Economic Cooperation at the Russian Foreign Ministry, said on June 8 that Western companies must prove their reliability before returning to Russia. He also stressed that at the moment, the places previously occupied by Western brands already belong to Russian manufacturers, as well as companies from China, the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia and India.
