UN Secretary General Guterres called on Israel and Iran to stop the conflict

"Israeli bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities. Iranian missile strikes on Tel Aviv. Enough escalation," he wrote on his Facebook page (ex. Twitter).
He said that peace and diplomacy "must take over."
Earlier, on June 13, Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran and declared a state of emergency. In this regard, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the purpose of the military operation is to strike at Iran's nuclear infrastructure.
Iran later closed its airspace amid retaliatory strikes against Israel. On the night of June 14, the Israel Defense Forces announced the beginning of the third wave of Iran's missile attack.
