- The EU Council has extended temporary protection measures for Ukrainian refugees until 2027.

The Council of the European Union (EU) has decided to extend temporary protection measures for refugees from Ukraine in the European Union until March 4, 2027. The corresponding statement was published on the official website of the organization on June 13.
"The [EU] Council has unanimously supported the proposal to extend temporary protection for more than 4 million Ukrainians <...> until March 4, 2027," the document says.
It is reported that the resolution may be amended if circumstances in Ukraine change.
On June 8, the Swiss newspaper Neue Zürcher Zeitung (NZZ) pointed to the EU's inability to resolve the issue of refugees from Ukraine. According to the publication, after the outbreak of the military conflict, about 4.3 million people from Ukraine received temporary protection status in EU countries.
