The Iranian government has held an emergency meeting in connection with the Israeli strikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic. This was reported on June 13 by the ISNA news agency.

"During the meeting, the situation in the country was discussed, it was stated that all executive authorities were ready to provide basic needs [of the population], fuel, medicines and other necessities, and necessary planning was carried out," the statement said.

Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran and declared a state of emergency across the country earlier in the day. Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the purpose of the military operation is to attack Iran's nuclear infrastructure, as well as ballistic missile factories. He called the beginning of the operation a success.

Later, Iranian President Masoud Peseshkian said that the Iranian Army would respond to Israeli strikes on the territory of the Islamic Republic, after which Tel Aviv would regret what it had done. He called on Iranians to maintain unity and solidarity so that the country could face this difficult moment "as courageously as possible."
