The expert said that Israel was disrupting US efforts in the dialogue on Iran's nuclear program.

Israel has undermined US efforts to negotiate over Iran's nuclear program, where the American side acted as a mediator. This was stated by Soviet and Russian diplomat Sergei Ordzhonikidze in an interview with Izvestia on June 13.

The expert noted that Israel's actions have put Washington in a difficult position.

"Clearly, this aggression [by Israel] is aimed at dragging the United States into the war. Because Israel alone, as I said, will not be able to destroy the facilities that produce plutonium nuclei," Ordzhonikidze said, adding that a military conflict is highly undesirable for the American side.

The diplomat also noted that Israeli strikes on the Islamic Republic could backfire, forcing the country to accelerate the development of nuclear weapons to protect its sovereignty.

"Of course, the Islamic countries will come out in defense of Iran. And Israel, of course, has done such a disservice to the United States, as I believe," Ordzhonikidze stressed.

Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran and declared a state of emergency across the country earlier in the day. At least five people died as a result. In addition, two more people were killed and six injured as a result of Israeli strikes on the city of Tabriz. According to the latest information, about 250 raids were carried out.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the purpose of the military operation is to attack Iran's nuclear infrastructure. He called the beginning of the operation a success. The Russian Foreign Ministry condemned Israel's unprovoked attack and pointed out that the state violated the UN Charter with its move.
