The death toll from the Israeli strike on the Iranian province of East Azerbaijan has grown to three people. This was announced on June 13 by the head of the regional crisis management, Majida Farshi.

"Unfortunately, three people from the province were killed, six were injured and were transferred to Tabriz hospitals for treatment," Mehr news agency quoted him as saying.

Farshi said that the Israeli strike targeted 10 locations in the province, including military installations and a research center.

Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran and declared a state of emergency across the country earlier in the day. At least five people died as a result of the incident. In addition, two more people were killed and six injured due to Israeli strikes on the city of Tabriz.

In turn, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the purpose of the military operation was to attack Iran's nuclear infrastructure.
