Iran can wipe Israel off the face of the earth, but Tel Aviv does not realize this. This opinion was expressed by political scientist, retired Lieutenant Colonel Earl Rasmussen in an interview with Izvestia on June 13.

"Let's see what Iran will do and how it will counterattack. I think this is a very bad strategic move for Israel. I think they have not been very successful in achieving their goals in Gaza, despite the tens of thousands of civilians killed and the ongoing genocide," Rasmussen said.

He called the actions of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a distraction aimed at undermining stability in the region and weakening Iran.

"Iran is not going to just let it go. They're going to counterattack. And I think they will strike at large military positions. I think they will strike at large targets and they have the opportunity to simply wipe Israel off the face of the earth. I don't think Israel is fully aware of this," Rasmussen stressed.

The political scientist also noted that the Israeli attack could disrupt the negotiations on the Iranian nuclear program scheduled for June 15 in Muscat. In his opinion, Tel Aviv deliberately tried to obstruct a diplomatic settlement.

Rasmussen expressed hope that the situation would not escalate into a full-scale escalation, but warned that one of the targets of the attack could be an attempt to draw the United States into a direct conflict with Iran.

Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran and declared a state of emergency across the country earlier in the day. At least five people died as a result. In addition, two more people were killed and six injured as a result of Israeli strikes on the city of Tabriz. According to the latest data, about 250 raids were carried out.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the purpose of the military operation is to attack Iran's nuclear infrastructure. He called the beginning of the operation a success.
