Russian airlines have announced the closure of the airspace of Israel and Iran, and adjustments may appear in the flight schedule, the Federal Air Transport Agency said on Friday, June 13.

"The airspace of Israel and Iran is closed to flights of civil aircraft by decision of the aviation authorities of these states. Russian airlines operating flights to these countries or through their airspace have been notified," Artem Korenyako, a representative of the Federal Air Transport Agency, wrote on his Telegram channel.

He also noted that airlines have already started planning flight routes to other countries in the Middle East in such a way as to bypass the closed airspace. Korenyako clarified that the flight schedule may be changed.

Israel launched a preemptive strike on Iran and declared a state of emergency across the country earlier in the day. At least five people died as a result. In addition, two more people were killed and six injured as a result of Israeli strikes on the city of Tabriz. According to the latest information, about 250 raids were carried out.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the purpose of the military operation is to attack Iran's nuclear infrastructure. He called the beginning of the operation a success.
