Five people have been killed during the protests in Bolivia, which have been going on for several days. This was reported on the page of the country's Foreign Ministry on the social network X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday, June 12.

"The Ministry of Foreign Affairs informs the international community about the escalation of violence provoked by sectors that seek to destabilize the constitutional order in the country. We deeply regret the deaths of four police officers and one civilian," the statement said.

The Bolivian ministry also informed that there are already several dozen injured in clashes between civilians and police in the city of Llallagua and on the Oruro-Cochabamba road.

The country's Foreign Ministry stressed that the protesters blocked roads and committed acts of vandalism, which caused shortages of food, medicine and fuel.

On May 16, Bolivian police fired tear gas at supporters of former President Evo Morales during their protests in La Paz. The protests were sparked by the decision of the country's constitutional court, according to which Morales can no longer participate in the elections. As of June 4, the protests continued, during which time 19 policemen were injured and 42 protesters were detained.
