Due to the closure of airspace over Israel, Ben Gurion Airport did not allow passengers to board the flight. Tourist Sofia Mozgaleva told Izvestia about this on June 13.

"The airport was closed, as well as the airspace. Now we and other tourists — coming and leaving — will try to come up with something," she said.

At the same time, she stressed that there were no notifications on the airport's website about flight cancellations or the closure of airspace over the country. So, the staff simply stopped her at the entrance of the airport and said in Russian that passengers "better return" because the airport was closed.

Iran and Israel announced the closure of the skies for civilian flights earlier that day. The purpose of the closure is to prevent and reduce the risk to passengers and aircraft.

Israel launched a preemptive strike against Iran and declared a state of emergency across the country on June 13. The operation was carried out in an area where high-ranking commanders of the Iranian army live. The IDF said that from that day on, all regions of the country have been switched from full activity to necessary activity. Also, against the background of the start of the military operation, Netanyahu convened the security cabinet.
