The House of Representatives of the US Congress has supported the proposal of the administration of US President Donald Trump to reduce government funding for foreign aid programs by $9.4 billion, as well as the media. This was reported by the Reuters news agency on Friday, June 13.

The document was supported by 214 votes in favor and 212 votes against. The meeting was broadcast on the website of the House of Representatives. Six members of the House of Representatives — two Republicans and four Democrats — abstained.

Trump lobbied for this bill. He called foreign aid a waste and called the National Public Radio and Public Broadcasting Service a "radical leftist disaster."

On June 10, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth announced that the US government would reduce the amount of funds in the budget for 2026 intended for the purchase of new weapons and further supplies to Ukraine. He noted that the peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian conflict is a priority for the American side and meets the interests of the state.
