- The US State Department has approved the sale of $215 million worth of air-to-ground missiles to the Netherlands.

The US State Department has approved the sale of an air-to-ground missile to the Netherlands in the amount of $215 million. This was announced by the Pentagon on Thursday, June 12.
"The State Department has decided to approve a possible foreign military sale to the Dutch government of joint air-to—ground missiles and related equipment at an estimated cost of $215 million," the statement said.
Also included in the deal will be: AGM-179 JAGM Captive Air Training missiles (CATM); technical assistance; missile handling training; classified and unclassified publications; spare parts; repair and return; storage; and other related program and logistics elements.
The deal will support the United States' foreign policy and national security goals by enhancing the security of its NATO ally, according to the Pentagon.
The Netherlands intends to use missiles to modernize its armed forces and expand its capabilities to strengthen internal defense and deter regional threats.
Earlier, on May 29, badgers prevented the Dutch Ministry of Defense from expanding the ammunition depot. Arend Speiker, Chairman of the Das en Vecht Foundation, stressed that badgers are protected by the Nature Protection Act and are in a fairly high category. According to him, the Ministry of Defense will have to come up with something for the badgers, for example, to catch and release them in another place or create an artificial dwelling.
