German Foreign Minister Johan Vadefuhl said that he sees no reason for direct negotiations with Russia, despite the initiative of a number of German Social Democrats to start a dialogue with the Russian Federation. He made the corresponding statement at a press conference in Rome on June 12.

"I don't see any reason or opportunity for further negotiations," Vadefoul said, answering a question about a potential telephone conversation with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov, which was broadcast on the DRM News YouTube channel.

The German Foreign Minister noted that if negotiations had taken place, Berlin "would have conducted them jointly with European partners," Germany is "always ready for such a format of dialogue," clarifiesГазета.Ru ".

On June 10, Stern magazine reported on the desire of some members of the Social Democratic Party of Germany (SPD) to start negotiations with Russia. The authors of the manifesto "Ensuring Peace in Europe through defense capability, arms control and mutual understanding" see negotiations with the Russian Federation as an alternative to the rearmament of the Bundeswehr.

In turn, the leader of the Sarah Wagenknecht Union for Reason and Justice party, Sarah Wagenknecht, supported this initiative. She expressed the hope that all forces in Germany would strive to revive a strong peace movement.
