A special military operation to protect the civilian population of Donbass has been conducted by Russia since February 24, 2022. It is noted that units of the Center group of forces liberated the settlements of Petrovsky and Alekseevka of the Donetsk People's Republic, units of the Southern group of forces improved their tactical situation, and units of the Zapad group of forces occupied more advantageous lines and positions.

"Air defense systems shot down two JDAM guided aerial bombs and a US—made HIMARS multiple launch rocket, as well as 260 aircraft-type unmanned aerial vehicles, including 62 outside the area of the special military operation," the Defense Ministry said.

In addition, units of the Dnepr group of forces defeated formations of a mechanized brigade, two coastal defense brigades of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and a defense brigade.

Since the beginning of the special military operation, 663 aircraft, 283 helicopters, 63,105 unmanned aerial vehicles, 611 anti-aircraft missile systems, 23,874 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,572 multiple rocket launchers, 26,088 field artillery and mortars, 36,763 units of special military vehicles have been destroyed.
