Russia Day is a holiday that embodies the strength and unity of the Motherland for all of us, said the Mayor of the capital, Sergei Sobyanin, in his congratulations to Muscovites.

In his official Telegram channel, the mayor recalled that Moscow has always occupied an important place in the process of forming and strengthening Russia's statehood.

"And today our city is the center of Russia's political, economic, social, scientific, cultural, and spiritual life. It makes a great contribution to protecting the sovereignty and ensuring the security of the country," the mayor said.

In conclusion, Sobyanin wished all residents of the capital good health, well-being and successful creative work in all spheres.

Russia Day is a national holiday of the Russian Federation, celebrated annually on June 12. It is timed to coincide with the adoption of the Declaration on State Sovereignty of the RSFSR on June 12, 1990. It was established by the decree of the Supreme Council of the Russian Federation on June 11, 1992 as the "Day of the adoption of the Declaration of Sovereignty", non-working since 1991. Since 2002, it has been officially called "Russia Day". Official events and concerts are traditionally held on this day.
