US President Donald Trump has signed a number of decrees aimed at accelerating the development of the unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) industry. This was reported on the White House website on June 11.

"Decades of regulatory deadlock have stalled the development of drones, flying cars, and supersonic flights in the United States. With today's executive orders, the Trump administration is giving American innovators more opportunities to test, develop, and commercialize these advanced aircraft that will transform aviation," said Michael Kratsios, director of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.

It clarifies that the decrees are aimed at overcoming bureaucratic obstacles that allegedly "for generations" have hindered the development of the American drone industry and technologies in the field of supersonic flights. Another goal of the documents was to improve supply chains and reduce dependence on other countries.

"The executive orders also create a pilot test program for flying vehicles, also known as electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft, for air taxis, cargo transportation, and defense logistics," the statement said.

The decrees will also affect the security sector and, allegedly, will help eliminate the threat of using drones for criminal and terrorist purposes.

Earlier, on June 6, Trump signed a decree on expanding the production of drones in the United States. The head of the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) was instructed to implement artificial intelligence tools to speed up the processing of applications for the operation of drones and publish an updated roadmap for the integration of civilian UAVs into the national airspace system.
