On the occasion of Russia Day, Sultan of Oman Haytham bin Tarek Al Said sent a congratulatory telegram to Russian President Vladimir Putin. This was reported on June 11 by the Oman News Agency.

It is specified that in the message, the head of state "wished President Putin happiness and good health, and the friendly people of Russia further development and prosperity."

On April 21, the Sultan of Oman arrived in Russia. Oman's Ambassador to Russia, Hamoud bin Salem al-Tuaih, announced on April 19 that during the Sultan's visit, the parties would sign 10 agreements, including a mutual waiver of visa requirements for holders of ordinary passports. Subsequently, Russia and Oman signed a visa-free regime agreement.
