A cyclist was killed in a car accident in the Leningrad region.

In the Leningrad region, an elderly cyclist died as a result of an accident with a domestic car. This was announced on June 11 by the press service of the Main directorate (GU) of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region in the Telegram channel.

"On June 11, at about 16:00, on the 3rd km of the Miny - Novinka highway in the Gatchina district of the Leningrad region, a 47–year-old driver, driving a Lada Largus car, hit a cyclist, an unidentified man, 65-70 years old, who was traveling in the same direction," the department said.

It is specified that the victim died from his injuries at the scene of the accident. The police are currently conducting an investigation into the incident.

Earlier, on May 29, a man driving a foreign car hit an 11-year-old boy on a bicycle in a wedge. The driver was arrested after the accident. A criminal case was opened against him and he was released on his own recognizance.
