Russian Ambassador to Turkey Alexey Yerkhov is completing his work as head of the diplomatic mission. He announced this on June 11 during a reception at the embassy dedicated to Russia Day.

"My 14-year stay in Turkey is coming to an end. Six years in Istanbul and eight years in Ankara," TASS quoted him as saying.

During his speech, he thanked Turkey for the hospitality and invaluable assistance provided during his work. Yerkhov also expressed gratitude to the "envoy friends" from other countries, whose relations were useful and pleasant, and to his Russian compatriots.

On June 3, Yerkhov said that the key to the successful development of the peoples of Russia and Turkey lies in the desire to understand each other and take into account each other's interests, especially at turning points in history.
