Nearly 50 people have died in South Africa due to a snow storm.


At least 49 people have died as a result of a snow storm on the east coast of the Republic of South Africa. This was reported on June 11 by the Africa News portal, citing data from local authorities.
"At least 49 people have died as a result of flooding in the Eastern Cape province in South Africa after an extremely cold front brought heavy rains and snowfall to some parts of the country," the newspaper writes.
It is noted that six schoolchildren who were on the bus during the flood became victims of the storm, four more students were missing. According to the Prime Minister of the Eastern Cape Province, Oscar Mabuyane, the death toll is likely to increase.
The New York Times reported on May 17 that at least 16 people were victims of the devastating storms that struck the US states of Missouri and Kentucky. According to the newspaper, nine people died in Laurel County, Kentucky.
