China has resumed issuing licenses for the export of rare earth metals to American automakers and enterprises for six months. This was reported on June 11 by The Wall Street Journal (WSJ), citing sources.

It is noted that this decision was made as a result of negotiations between the United States and China in London.

"China is introducing a six—month limit on the issuance of licenses for the export of rare earth metals for American automakers and manufacturing," the article says.

According to the newspaper, such an initiative will allow Beijing to have leverage over Washington in the event of a resumption of "trade tensions" and increased uncertainty for the United States industry.

Earlier in the day, American leader Donald Trump said that the US-China trade deal is almost complete, it remains only to receive the final approval of the leaders of both countries. He noted that rare earth metals will be supplied to Washington by Beijing. At the same time, the United States will receive 55% of tariffs, and China — 10%.
