The expert called the EU's anti-Russian sanctions part of its marketing policy.

The European Union (EU) cannot stop adopting sanctions against Russia, as they are an important aspect of its marketing policy. Alexander Frolov, Deputy Director General of the National Energy Institute, shared this conviction with Izvestia on June 11.
"How can you stop accepting new sanctions packages if this is part of your marketing policy? <…> You build an image and try to follow that image diligently. <...> The image of the European Commission, which is fighting with the Russian Federation, and the Russian Federation is about to allegedly attack the poor defenseless European Union," Frolov said.
The expert recalled that European leaders really want to be involved in the dialogue between Moscow and Kiev. If they get a seat at the negotiating table, they could present this as a result of sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation, Frolov suggested.
"But if they are not called, [European leaders] can be told that if it were not for the sanctions, Russia would not have entered into negotiations with Ukraine at all," he explained.
The Politico newspaper reported on June 9 that the EU may vote on the 18th package of anti-Russian sanctions in the near future. It was clarified that if the United States confirms at the meeting of the leaders of the Group of Seven its readiness for a coordinated approach to the issue of sanctions, then a vote on the next package may take place as early as June 20.
