Modern working conditions, including information overload and a high level of uncertainty, are increasingly leading to emotional exhaustion. The key to solving the problem lies in a conscious approach to work and life, Aygun Kurbanova, founder of the School of Career Management and president of the Association of Career Consultants, told Izvestia on June 16.

"Today, people are forced not only to fulfill their duties, but also to constantly monitor changes in the economy, politics and the media space. This creates a tremendous psycho—emotional burden," she said.

According to her, in countries where success is valued, such as Russia, China and the United States, many are working hard, exacerbating their condition. At the same time, standard advice like "get more rest" often turns out to be useless if the underlying causes of burnout are not eliminated.

The expert advises first of all to understand how the work corresponds to personal interests and values.

"If a person has been suffering from burnout for years, changing companies, but not the field of activity, the problem may be in the wrong choice of profession," the specialist said.

Corporate culture also plays an important role. Constant stress due to a toxic atmosphere or a mismatch of values depletes faster than recycling.

"Sometimes you don't just need to take a vacation, but review your attitudes, learn how to delegate tasks and find a balance. In difficult cases, working with a psychologist or career counselor will help," Kurbanova summed up.

Psychologist Tatiana Smirnova told Izvestia on May 29 that a properly organized work and rest regime would help to avoid burnout in the summer. She advised spending active weekends, using lunch breaks for walks, and starting the morning with physical activity in the fresh air.
