The legendary brig Rossiya entered St. Petersburg on the eve of the Scarlet Sails Alumni Celebration. This was reported on June 11 by a correspondent of Izvestia.

It is noted that in a few weeks the brig Rossiya will appear on the Neva River early in the morning and will become a symbol of a new life for former schoolchildren. All these days of preparation, the team will practice every element of the solemn passage of the vessel.

"The holiday is still more than two weeks away, but the brig is already fully ready for it. Even the lighting equipment, which has increased even more this year. But the most interesting thing is ahead — the main symbol of the St. Petersburg graduates' holiday is about to spread its scarlet sails," said correspondent Natalia Oskerko.

There is nothing fake about the Brig Rossiya, it is a former fishing trawler that has been converted according to ancient shipbuilding traditions combined with modern technologies. At the same time, the vessel has 17 sails with an area of almost 900 square meters, 50 m long and more than 7.5 m wide, and also reaches a speed of 16 knots, which is equivalent to 30 km/ h.

"It's so beautiful and so necessary for all of us now. And most importantly, dreams come true, desires come true! And the main thing is to believe in it and carry it, to be charged by this wonderful atmosphere. It is simply impossible to look at this ship that is sailing in the water area without tears, without tears of happiness," said Lidia Butuzova, general producer of the concert part of the Scarlet Sails festival.

This year, the brig Rossiya has a new route. It will start in front of the Senate Embankment, pass through the open span of the Palace Bridge and turn around at the Hermitage. The trajectory of the ship is designed so that the viewer can see the beauty of the historical center of the city.

"We need to pay very close attention to the U—turn, we will turn in rather cramped circumstances, there will be an embankment on the right, a pyrotechnic pontoon field on the left, everything must be brought to perfection," said Oleg Nikolaev, captain of the brig Rossiya.

"Our task is always to come up with something fresh, mix something with something, cross something with something and get a new effect. I hope we will surprise you again this year," said Mikhail Kolpakhchiev, chief director of the Scarlet Sails water pyrotechnic show.

On June 10, Channel Five won the competition for the organization and broadcast of the alumni celebration "Scarlet Sails – 2025". As Mikhail Kolpakhchiev, the chief director of the water pyrotechnic show, noted, every year the team comes up with new solutions, not only ideological and semantic, but also visual.

The Scarlet Sails holiday was revived in 2005 after a long-term hiatus on the initiative of ROSSIYA Joint Stock Bank, the Government of St. Petersburg and Channel Five.
