Chery crash-tested ten-year-old cars

Chery has crashed several Arrizo and Tiggo series cars with more than a decade of experience in crash tests conducted according to modern standards. This is stated in the message of the Chinese manufacturer, which was received by Izvestia on June 11.
Ten-year-old Chery Arrizo and Tiggo were subjected to a crash test with 40% overlap and a deformable barrier at a speed of 64 km/h using Euro NCAP techniques. According to the test results, it turned out that the deformations of the A, B and C pillars were minimal, the interior remained intact, and all the doors remained fully functional.
In the second round of tests, where the cars were tested by a head-on collision with a rigid barrier at a speed of 50 km/h, the airbags were activated, and the dummies remained unharmed.
Chery stressed that the cars involved in the crash tests had not been modified and were in the same form as they came off the assembly line ten years ago.
Earlier that day, it was reported that the new Lada Iskra model received the highest score based on the results of crash tests conducted according to the standards of the ARCAP methodology developed by experts of the Autoreview publication. The company showed a video with crash tests of the new model.
