Chinese models outstripped UAZ in sales of pickups


Chinese models of the JAC and Great Wall brands outperformed UAZ in the market of new pickups in Russia by the end of May 2025. The bestseller among pickups in Russia was the JAC T9, which sold 224 units. Sergey Tselikov, director of the Autostat analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on June 11.
The second place after the JAC T9 in terms of sales for the month is Great Wall Poer (217 units), the third place went to UAZ Pickup (156 units). Two more Chinese models rounded out the top five — Sollers ST6 (143 units) and Foton Tunland (129 units), manufactured under the Russian brand.
It is noteworthy that in May, five new American electric Tesla Cybertruck pickups were registered in Russia, the expert noted.
In total, 1,496 new pickups were sold in Russia in May, which is 27% less than in May last year. In five months, the market amounted to 8.64 thousand pickups (-15% YoY).. At the same time, the country's entire car market declined by 26%, the analyst said. The share of the pickup segment has grown to 2% of the total passenger car market.
Earlier in the day, the head of Autostat said that the most popular convertibles in Russia in 2025 were the Mercedes-Benz SL-class and BMW models based on the 4-series. According to his calculations, 157 new convertibles were sold in Russia in the first five months of 2025.
