The Polish Institute of National Remembrance has granted the Ukrainian side a preliminary permit for search and exhumation work in the village of Yurechkova in the Subcarpathian Voivodeship. On June 11, the press secretary of the Institute Rafal Leskevich informed the RAR agency about this.

"The Institute of National Remembrance has started working on obtaining the permits and administrative decisions necessary to start work," he said.

It is specified that the work will begin in the autumn, and Ukraine will finance it.

On June 10, the Polish newspaper Myśl Polska reported that the Ukrainian authorities were criticizing the introduction of a memorial day for the victims of the Volyn massacre in Poland, fearing to lose help from the West. According to the newspaper, evidence of crimes committed by Ukrainian Nazi collaborators during World War II can cause great harm to Kiev in a situation where they are trying to get political and material support.

On June 5, the Polish Sejm granted state status to the day of remembrance of the victims of the Volyn massacre in 1943, it was reported on the official page of the lower house of parliament. At the same time, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine stated that the decision "contradicts the spirit of good-neighborly relations between Ukraine and Poland," "does not contribute to the achievement of mutual understanding and reconciliation."
