In an attempt to save money on refueling air conditioners, some car owners turn not to specialized services, but to garage stations and to craftsmen "from the curb", which threatens problems with the car. Andrey Subbotin, head of the Fit Service car service, warned about this.

"It would seem that what could go wrong? But instead of a special refrigerant (freon), the "masters" from the curb can fill the system with, for example, propane. This is exactly the kind of gas that is used in lighters. At best, it could end in a breakdown, at worst, an explosion," Rossiyskaya Gazeta quoted Subbotin as saying on May 11.

The specialist pointed out that each car has a volume of refrigerant clearly specified by the manufacturer, overfilling or underfilling can lead to problems. If the freon level is lowered, the compressor is overloaded, and its failure can cost tens of thousands of rubles.

Accurate refueling and refueling of the system requires the use of special professional equipment that garage stations and roadside "craftsmen" do not have, he noted. The expert also advised not to forget to change the lubricant in the air conditioning system at least once a year — without it, the friction elements wear out, and the compressor may jam.

Earlier, on May 30, car expert Yulia Trushkova said that in the summer heat it is best to park the car on smooth asphalt or a concrete slab. If you leave the car on grass, earth, and loose soil, it can harm it.
