The deputy battalion commander of one of the military units in the Khmelnitsky region of Ukraine organized a scheme by which, together with accomplices, he embezzled $ 24,000 for the purchase of bakery products for the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU). This was reported on June 11 by the State Bureau of Investigation (GBR) of Ukraine.

"In the Khmelnitsky region, employees of the GBR exposed members of an organized criminal group that appropriated budget funds allocated to provide military bakery products. The deputy battalion commander of one of the military units organized the criminal scheme," reads a statement posted on the GBR website.

The members of the criminal group overestimated the volume of purchases of bakery products at the expense of the state budget from a private entrepreneur. No product deliveries were carried out, and the "proceeds" were distributed among the participants.

The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention for the deputy commander of the battalion and the businessman.

On April 8, it became known about the detention of Ukrainian fraudsters who stole $267 thousand from the military of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and volunteers for the purchase of UAVs for the army. During the searches, 53 drones, 152 silver bars and almost $740 thousand in various currencies were seized from the members of the group, in addition to the already mentioned $267 thousand.
