You can save money on utility bills by installing meters, replacing lamps, and other simple steps. Financial consultant Tatiana Volkova told about this on Wednesday, June 11.

"Install water and electricity meters, because if you pay according to the standard, you are most likely overpaying. With individual metering devices, you pay only for actual consumption, and savings can reach several thousand rubles per year," the expert said in an interview with Lenta.Ru .

Volkova also recommended replacing all lamps with LED ones and updating household appliances. According to her, modern A+++ class models consume many times less electricity, which is especially important for refrigerators, washing machines and dishwashers.

"Check if you are eligible for subsidies. If utility bills exceed a certain percentage of your income, the government can partially offset the costs," the financial consultant explained.

In addition, she recommended disabling all unnecessary services: cable TV, unused communication services, or imposed services.

In turn, Svetlana Razvorotneva, deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Construction and Housing and Communal Services, said that with the help of housing subsidies, some citizens can pay less for utilities, RT reports.

On June 4, the Ministry of State Administration of the Moscow region reported that since the beginning of the year, residents of the region have submitted more than 55,000 applications for compensation for utility bills. Support is provided to large families, the disabled and other beneficiaries, clarifies 360.ru .

Earlier, on May 13, Dmitry Bondar, a public figure and housing and communal services expert, said that bank accounts could be seized for having large utility bills, as well as withholding amounts from income and forcibly collecting the debt by court order.

Bondar recalled that penalties are accrued from the 31st day of delay - 1/300 of the Central Bank's key rate for each day. He stressed that the amounts are insignificant at first, but they are growing rapidly and can significantly increase the total debt.
