BMW will equip new cars based on the Neue Klasse platform with a system that will be able to turn on the turn indicators on its own. On June 11, The Verge reported that its columnist Tim Stevens managed to test a prototype of the new iX3 crossover.

BMW cars based on the Neue Klasse platform will be equipped with an advanced driver assistance system, which, according to company representatives, works in symbiosis with the driver: the car assistants do not fight with the person and do not distract him, but adjust to make driving safer and less stressful. The iX3 system is based on a computing platform that BMW calls a "superbrain." It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon Ride chip.

A number of sensors are responsible for monitoring the driver and can determine the direction of his gaze. According to the journalist, if in some modern BMWs, in autopilot mode, the driver can look into the side rearview mirror so that the car starts changing lanes, then the iX3 system takes a step forward — the electric car turns on the turn signal in advance if the driver takes the steering wheel and starts to change lanes.

"The first BMW has finally appeared, designed to dispel the most common prejudice against drivers of cars of this brand: they never turn on the turn signal before changing lanes," Stevens wrote.

The BMW iX3 will be the first model based on the Neue Klasse architecture designed for all-electric cars. Production of the crossover will begin in Hungary at the end of the year. The electric car will be able to travel up to 800 km on a single charge (according to the WLTP cycle). Another feature of the model will be the Panoramic iDrive's full-width windshield screen.

Earlier in the day, it was reported that the Xiaomi SU7 Ultra sedan set a record on the long and difficult German Nurburgring highway, becoming the fastest mass-produced electric car. The 1,548-horsepower Chinese sedan proved to be faster than the Rimac Nevera electric hypercar and the flagship Porsche Taycan Turbo GT.
