There have been 244 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.

Over the past day, 244 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 29 people were killed and 284 injured. 27 of the dead were passengers and drivers of vehicles. This was reported to Izvestia on June 11 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
As a result of 50 accidents, 21 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 29 outside their area of operation, two pedestrians were killed, 49 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 21 minor pedestrians, 10 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places.
There were 14 accidents involving buses, in which there were no fatalities, but 15 road users needed medical help. Six bus accidents were caused by traffic violations committed by their drivers.
46 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which 51 young road users were injured, including 16 passengers, eight cyclists and four motor transport drivers under the age of 16. Two children were killed: a passenger and a motor vehicle driver.
So, in Crimea, on 8 km of the Yevpatoria —Mirny regional highway, a 40-year-old crossover driver, while overtaking in a prohibited place, collided with a passing cargo Gazelle, after which the passenger car left the road and overturned. As a result of the accident, two passengers of the crossover were killed, including an eight-year-old girl who was in the back passenger seat wearing a seat belt. Two more female passengers of this car (born in 2010 and 2023) were injured and, after receiving medical care, were sent for outpatient treatment. At the time of the incident, the eldest of them was in the front passenger seat, and the youngest was in a child restraint in the back. Both used seat belts.
In the city of Leninsk-Kuznetsk, Kemerovo region, a 56-year-old crossover driver at an unregulated intersection, when turning left, did not provide an advantage in traffic and collided with a motorcycle moving in the opposite direction, driven by a 13-year-old schoolboy without a motorcycle helmet. The teenager died, and his 16-year-old passenger was hospitalized with injuries. Like the deceased young motorcyclist, the second teenager also did not use a motorcycle helmet when driving a vehicle.
On the eve of the long holiday weekend, the State Traffic Inspectorate called on parents to strictly monitor and stop attempts by children and teenagers to get behind the wheel on their own, as well as to exclude for them the possibility of accessing the keys of cars, mopeds and motorcycles. Lack of control over children's behavior and leisure activities, especially in the evening and at night, often leads to injuries or deaths of young road users.
The department drew the attention of parents to the administrative responsibility for providing the opportunity to drive motor vehicles for children who do not have a driver's license of the appropriate category.
The State Traffic Inspectorate also recommended that motorists be more careful on the roads of towns and cities in the summer, when school-age children spend a lot of time outdoors. Special care should be taken when driving through courtyards, crossing intersections, and approaching pedestrian crossings. Driver's discipline is especially necessary if there are child passengers in the cabin, who should be transported in compliance with all applicable safety requirements.
"During trips of any length with young passengers, avoid risky driving, dangerous maneuvers, and choose a reasonable speed limit depending on the time of day, the condition of the roadway, and weather conditions. Always remember that the preservation of the life and health of underage passengers depends entirely on adult road users," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.
