- The political scientist called the lack of promises about Ukraine's European integration a change of course for the United States.

The lack of promises about Ukraine's European integration is the result of a change in the course of the United States. This was stated on June 11 in an interview with Izvestia by political analyst Ivan Mezyuho.
"This change was evident even before this leak in the media, when Pete Hegseth, the US Secretary of Defense, did not attend the meeting. — Ed.) Ramstein, which was dedicated to Ukraine. Thus, Washington has demonstrated that the approach of the United States of America to the Ukrainian case has changed significantly," the expert explained.
Despite this, Mezyuho expressed confidence that at the upcoming NATO summit, which will be held in The Hague on June 24-26, support for Ukraine, both military and financial, will be discussed. However, this discussion may take place without the participation of the United States, he admitted.
In addition, the political scientist drew attention to the fact that Kiev hopes that even if the North Atlantic Alliance cannot provide the necessary assistance, the leading European powers and the United Kingdom will not leave the country without support.
Currently, the Ukrainian leadership has already begun to assess the consequences of changes in the position of NATO and their impact on the prospects for the country's integration into the alliance, he said.
"Nevertheless, at one time a clause on Euro-Atlantic integration was introduced into the constitution of Ukraine, but the realities on earth suggest that for the Russian Federation, which has the advantage and initiative on the battlefield, Ukraine's membership in the North Atlantic Alliance is unthinkable. Therefore, there are currently no prospects for Ukraine's real membership in NATO," the expert stressed.
The political scientist stressed that if the final statement of the summit does not mention Ukraine's Euro-Atlantic integration, it will be a serious blow to Ukrainian leader Vladimir Zelensky.
On the same day, Bloomberg, citing anonymous sources, reported that the NATO member states refused to mention Ukraine in a joint statement of the upcoming alliance summit in The Hague at the end of June. It clarifies that the one-page declaration focuses exclusively on defense spending. China is also not mentioned, although the bloc has previously indicated an alleged threat from it.
