Zakharova announced the West's intentions to undermine the security of the South Caucasus

The intentions of the countries of the North Atlantic Alliance (NATO) do not bring anything good for the security of the South Caucasus, the goal of the West, on the contrary, is to undermine the situation in the region. This was announced on June 11 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

"We have repeatedly said that NATO does not bring anything good for the security of the South Caucasus, on the contrary, the main goal of Westerners is to shake up the region, set it off, and create new hotbeds of tension," the diplomat said at a briefing.

Speaking about the consequences of NATO's cooperation with Azerbaijan, Zakharova expressed hope that Baku, as well as Yerevan, fully assess the risks of deepening cooperation with the military bloc.

On May 6, Zakharova warned that any NATO actions in the South Caucasus are aimed at creating a zone of instability and tension in the region. She pointed out that through military exercises, NATO imposes its ideology and standards on the states of the region, as well as creates conditions for controlling the development of the armed forces of the republics.
