The Council of Cantons of Switzerland (the small chamber of Parliament) supported the lifting of the ban on the re-export of weapons to military conflict zones. The vote took place on June 11 and was broadcast on the parliament's YouTube channel.

According to this decision, Switzerland will be able to export weapons to NATO countries, except in exceptional circumstances and in cases where this "contradicts the foreign policy or political interests" of the country. It is specified that the countries of the alliance will be able to transfer Swiss weapons and military equipment to other states at their discretion.

Now the deputies of the National Council (the Grand Chamber of Parliament) must vote on this issue.

On May 28, the Swiss Ministry of Economy approved the sale of 71 Leopard 1A5 tanks to Germany on the condition that they would not be re-exported to Ukraine. As noted in the government of the confederation, the transfer of components or components of military equipment to Kiev is also not allowed.
