The Kherson regional court sentenced a resident of the region to 12 years in a penal colony for high treason. The corresponding statement was published on the official website of the regional Prosecutor's office on June 11.

"The Kherson Regional Court has passed a verdict in the criminal case against 42-year-old Olga Gulchak. She was found guilty under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High treason committed by providing financial assistance to a foreign state in activities directed against the security of the Russian Federation")," the ministry said in a statement.

It is reported that in August and September 2023, the convict, using a mobile application, made a number of money transfers intended to finance the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

According to the prosecutor's office, the court sentenced Gulchak to 12 years in prison to serve her sentence in a general regime penal colony. In addition, the woman was fined 100,000 rubles.

The crime was identified and investigated by officers of the Federal Security Service of Russia in the Kherson region, the statement said.

On June 5, it became known that the Supreme Court of Crimea sentenced a resident of Yalta in a case of high treason for financing the Armed Forces of Ukraine. It is reported that the woman was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
