The Xiaomi SU7 Ultra sedan has set a record on the long and difficult German Nurburgring highway, becoming the fastest mass-produced electric car. The Chinese company's press service announced this on social media on June 11.

Xiaomi SU7 Ultra overcame the 20.8-kilometer track in 7 minutes 4.957 seconds. Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun promised that in the future his company's electric vehicles will return to the German circuit and expressed confidence that the sedan will be able to improve its performance.

Last fall, the SU7 Ultra prototype managed to drive the Nurburgring in 6 minutes 46.874 seconds, but this result was not counted in the corresponding rating of the iconic track, since the car was not mass-produced.

The 1,548-horsepower Chinese sedan proved to be faster than the Rimac Nevera electric hypercar (7 minutes 5.298 seconds) and the flagship Porsche Taycan Turbo GT with a Weissach sports package (7 minutes 7.55 seconds).

On May 22, Xiaomi introduced the production version of the YU7 crossover in China, which became the brand's second model. Sales of the electric car will start in July this year.
