- Emergency mode has been introduced in part of the Rostov region due to abnormal drought

In 10 municipalities of the Rostov region, against the background of an abnormal drought, the authorities of the region introduced a state of emergency (emergency). As the press service of the regional government reported on June 10, the order was signed by Acting Governor Yuri Slyusar, the measure began to take effect from the date of signing.
It is noted that since May 18, a critical decrease in soil moisture reserves has been observed in the Azov, Belokalitvinsky, Verkhnedonsky, Veselovsky, Zernogradsky, Oktyabrsky, Semikarakorsky, Salsky, Tsimlyansky and Chertkovsky districts.
"According to preliminary estimates, crops on an area of about 60 thousand hectares were affected by the soil drought. The total acreage in the Rostov region is 4.9 million hectares," the government's website says.
The natural disaster regime, according to the insurance rules, allows farmers to receive compensation. According to the press service, more than 920 thousand hectares of crops have been insured for the 2025 harvest in the region. The municipal authorities must provide the Ministry of Agriculture of the region with documents confirming the amount of damage caused by the drought.
On May 20, Yandex Weather specialists told Izvestia that the average summer temperature in Russia will exceed the climatic norm by two to three degrees, and new temperature records may be set in some regions. For example, in the Krasnodar Territory and the Rostov Region, summer may become the hottest in the last 30 years, with peak temperatures in July.
After that, on June 10, at a meeting of Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Patrushev, it was noted that an agricultural harvesting campaign had started in Russia. According to experts, 5 million tons more grain will be harvested this year than last year.
