An unusual phenomenon, called the Strawberry Moon, appeared in the sky over the regions of Russia on the night of June 11.

Such an unusual color of the Earth's satellite is due to the peculiarity of its location in relation to our planet. The moon moves along the lowest trajectory, very close to the horizon line. This creates the optical effect of a large celestial body with a reddish tint. In fact, the satellite itself does not change its color or size in any way.

The peak visibility of the Strawberry Moon occurred at 03:45 Moscow time on June 11.

This is a fairly rare phenomenon — it is recorded once every 18 years. In addition, this is the last full moon before the summer solstice: on June 21, the longest day and the shortest night will be observed.

Earlier, on the night of May 13, a rare phenomenon known as a Flower Moon was recorded. The May full moon got its name from the indigenous peoples of North America.
