Lukashenko named the reason for the potato shortage in Belarus
The potato shortage in Belarus was caused by domestic political reasons. This was announced by the head of state Alexander Lukashenko on June 10.
"When the State Control Committee checked some figures, it turns out that there was a case in politics," BelTA quoted him as saying.
The Belarusian leader stressed that currently "there is enough of everything."
Earlier, on May 28, Lukashenko called for growing a lot of potatoes for Belarus and the Russian Federation. In addition, he added that in this way the country will help "Russian brothers."
On May 27, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that at a meeting with business representatives he was told that there were not enough potatoes in Russia. The President also noted that the agricultural sector in Russia is currently developing, becoming a high-tech and interesting area of work.
